Volumizing Products for medium length hair!?

I have medium length hair [it's a little on the long-ish side though] and layered and I have nose length side bangs. I currently use Umberto Thickening Spray and Pureology Volume gel and I like them...but the spray is $12 and the gel is like $20. Is there anything cheaper that gets the job done? Bonus points if you can give me some other cool products [curling lotion, texturizer, etc] that might work well on my hair and other "instructions." Thanks loves! And don't worry, I'll choose a best answer so one of you will get bonus points! :]

I use Pantene products, and I have for yeeeeears, lol. Pantene extra volume mousse-the stuff in the purple can, lol-works very well for me. I have hair sort of like yours by the description, at least in length and cut and all. I also blow mine dry upside down and allover every day, and curl it with a very large iron. I also find my hair is "fatter" when it is freshly coloured. Hope any of this helps!

ANY "Garnier Fructis" products. And there are alot of them! They have volumizing, gel, spray, shampoo etc. There are also alot of texturizing products...those of which I use to make my short locks chunky and messy. It works!

I hope that helps! They sell the product at Wal-Mart, Target, Fred Myer...really, anywhere! Try it out, it's on the cheap side!

p.s Also, for some tips: Volume starts at the roots of your hair...so dry your hair by flipping it upsidedown and using a hairdryer, then try any volume spray/gel and get the hair thats close to your scalp. It'll lift the roots and the rest of your hair will bounce!!!

Personally I wouldn't use Garnier. Try Pantene Pro-V. They have a great variety of hairspray products, and mousee. I love it, and use it. Many of their products smell incredible too! They have volumizing mousse. I use that, and i love my hair now. Give it a try. I did, and i use nothing else but that.

Sorry, I am fighting that same battle right now. I am not very happy with the results of any product that I have tried. They are too sticky, too dull, etc. But, good luck and I will be checking back, hoping to find the answer, as it will sure help me if someone knows of a good, inexpensive product. Thanks for a great question!

I use the Ion Vitalizing line at Sally Beauty Supply. All the products are around $5, and they're easy to use. Hairspray, mousse, heat-activated spray, shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner, thickening solution, etc.

It helps to spray a good hair spray at your roots while you blast them with your blowdryer, or to use a curling iron around your crown and spritz the curls.

try blow drying your hair upside down, that will give it volume!

ANY "Aussie" products work very well!!! There are many things to chose from and they run very cheap. They have many different types of shampoos and conditioners. They have shampoo and conditioners to give you hair more body and volume. I highly recommend their hair gel. It leaves you hair looking GREAT and it smells good too. It doesn't leave your hair greasy looking like some gels, so that is a major plus. Their hairspray is also fantastic. They also have a sprunch spray for making your hair wavy instead of curly like gel. Their products work very well. All of their products run from $1 to $5. So like i said before its very cheap, but works GREAT! You can find Aussie products at Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Shopko, Walgreens, and any local shopping center. I hope you will try Aussie products and have as good as results as I have had with them!

u need layers in your hair for sure. texture helps also. next time ask your hair stylist to texture your hair especially on top. try Sally's beauty supplies. they have great products that aren't as expensive as u would pay for in the salon but better quality than drugstore hair products. or maybe even eBay for salon products. i would recommend matrix's amplify line or anything with volumizing on the bottle or rootlifter. goodluck.
