medium length is a little below your sholders.

and long length is past your sholders.

so if u have medium lenght hair, you shouldn't get curls. wait till ur hair is long enough, then get big wavy curls. but for now, just leave ur hair like that or have ur hair curl in just a bit. =)

it has a lot to do with the undertones of your skin...

if you are.....

cool undertones (look good with ash blonds, ash browns, and black)

or

warm undertones (select colors with a yellow, golden, or amber cast)

if you are naturally pale, the darker the color, the more pale you will look.

you also should consider how much styling you plan on doing,a lighter color will show the damage from over processing more

my advice is embrace your straight hair and work with it.

I also have blonde, medium length hair. The best color I have found is: L'Oreal Preference Haircolor. It gives you long-lasting color with superior shine. The kit comes with six weeks of conditioner. Preference gives you different shades of blonde so it looks natural. You can choose what shade of blonde you want such as light, ash etc. The cost ranges $8.00 to $10.00. You can easily find discount coupons.

As for the curls, you need to be careful with multiple applications. Such as color plus perms. You don't want to dry out or burn your hair. I use a curling iron with a pre-drying moisture spray.

For extra shine, there are many "blonde shine" products. The best over the counter is John Frieda. He has a complete line of hair products. Cost a bit more, but well worth the money.

Good Luck!!
